OUR VISION

The coming decades will be crucial for ensuring food security and sovereignty, nutrition, youth employment, gender equity, climate change adaptation and mitigation, the preservation of resources such as water, biodiversity, soils and forests, and global health.

That's why research bodies, universities, schools and organizations are joining forces in this ambitious partnership to support the necessary transitions in such systems.

Strengthen international cooperation for productive, resilient, autonomous and sustainable food and agricultural systems, through research in partnership with Africa, Europe and the rest of the world, and which contributes to the 17 sustainable development goals of the Agenda 2030 as well as those of the Paris Climate Agreement.

OUR GOALS

TSARA is both a partnership and a framework for sharing knowledge and practices, and for co-constructing research, innovation and training projects.

The impact of its action helps to support stakeholders, inform public policy and feed other regional and international initiatives. It contributes to meeting global challenges that are shared and aligned with the priorities of the African Union and the European Union.

The initiative proposes :
  • establish an equitable, mutually beneficial, long-term partnership,
  • enhance synergies with existing initiatives and networks, while remaining open to new cooperative ventures;
  • develop projects on key themes and integrate them through cross-functional approaches (nexus),
  • cross a variety of actors, scales, geographical areas, languages, networks, knowledge, methods, devices and approaches,
  • implement research of excellence, involving many scientific disciplines, situated and participative, from local to generic,
  • give an essential place to young people and women.

These objectives are reflected in anambitious scientific agenda and action plan.

OUR VALUES

TSARA's charter states that its members are committed to values such as ethics, respect for personal data protection, scientific integrity and open science.

She emphasizes the importance of local communities and stakeholders in the development of innovations, and the benefits of involving them in research through participatory approaches.
