The TSARA initiative - a working group dedicated to employment - and the International Association on Work in Agriculture (IAWA), are offering a webinar to share an overview of current research on work and employment in agriculture in Africa.

Based on a 10-year literature review and presentations, the webinar will introduce and discuss the major themes related to work and employment in Africa. A continent that is experiencing strong demographic growth and questioning its development models. At stake is the ability of the agricultural sector to provide quality jobs for all in the future, especially for young people and women.

A solid scientific partnership

The literature review was carried out in partnership withINRAE (France), INERA (Burkina Faso),ISRA (Senegal), CIRAD (France) andIAV Hassan II (Morocco).

Objectives

IAWA - the International Association on Agricultural Work - brings together the research and development community studying agricultural work worldwide. The association aims to cross disciplinary and thematic boundaries. The aim is to understand, analyze and compare the realities of work and workers in agriculture, and to reflect on the future of work.

The TSARA initiative (Transforming Food Systems and Agriculture through Research in Partnership with Africa) brings together 26 institutions from Europe and Africa. The "work and employment" working group develops scientific leadership activities. It draws up projects focusing on the development of decent, productive and attractive work in African agriculture.
